I use Twilio to create local phone numbers for all the countries we serve. We have a UK number, an Australian number, a US number, and a Canadian number.
This makes it so when clients phone us, they can use a local number and not have to incur long-distance charges. It also makes us look more professional as a company.
All of these numbers forward to one phone.
It was brought to my attention that this function was no longer working. When calling one of the numbers, it would not ring; it would just hang up.
I spent the better part of an hour troubleshooting and updating the setting that controls the forward.
Eventually I found a post that explained that I needed to update my customer profile. It took me a while to figure this out so I am hoping that if someone else is having this issue this post makes it a bit easier for them to get it fixed.
Really what I want to do is use Answer Connect as an answering service. At $325 USD a month plus a $75 setup fee, we don’t have the volume to make this make sense.
After a bit of digging it looks like I can put some code in place to route calls in Twillio, record a voicemail and send it to the right person. Once it’s setup then I just pay per minute to Twillio.
